Dirty Dealing 3D generated big interest at the American Film Market

The Robin Hood Films team just returned from our first year there as a distribution company.  I can’t say it went off without a hitch as our graphic artist and printer dropped the ball and we didn’t have all of our promotional material on the first day as planned, but once everything arrived, we put out a good showing.  Repping a dozen films, we avoided the worst pitfall I had seen in visiting previous AFMs of distributors appearing to be nothing more than filmmakers trying to sell their film directly.  Walking into a company’s suite and seeing they only have a single film is like walking into an ice cream store that only have one flavor.  Probably a better analogy would be like walking into a restaurant and the only food they serve is dog.  If you’re at the AFM with one film, odds are it isn’t great…in fact, it always seems to be on the other end of the spectrum.

Although we just finished shooting Dirty Dealing a few weeks before the show, we scrambled to get a 3D teaser together which was the highlight in our suite.  People continue to love 3D and although it’s not taking off as quickly in the US as manufacturers had hoped, in many parts of the world it gaining considerable traction.  In fact, there are now more than 50 channels worldwide that play exclusively 3D content…and a couple of those found their way to us and seem very interested in the project.

Special thanks to the Robin Hood Films for working hard the AFM this year.  Kerry Shahan, Chris Blewitt and the lovely Frida Farrell – you guys rock!
